One Thousand Premieres

In his book Roaring Lambs, Bob Briner encourages Christians to do more than criticize what "the world" (I hate that term) produces, he says we as believers need to create something to replace it.

So instead of bashing Harry Potter or signing petitions for a tv station to drop The Playboy Club, create something of value that might replace it.

Ben Arment is a guy I have a lot of respect for. Each year he puts on a conference for the creative class called Story. (Attending the conference is on my bucket list) Ben has assembled a team and they are undertaking an exciting new project called One Thousand Premieres. The idea is simple, create a modern film, (read: on par with Hollywood) re-telling one of the epic stories in the Bible. Like what they did with Saving Private Ryan.

When I read about the project earlier today I cannot tell you how excited I got. I've been waiting for a film like this, one that pushes the envelope of christian media and wants to compare itself to regular cinema.

One Thousand Premieres is a campaign to bring one of the greatest faith stories to the silver screen. It's the story of David and Goliath, in its time period, but presented in a progressive cinematic style for the next generation. Rather than distributing it through conventional theaters, we’re building a network of 1,000 visionaries who will help bring this film to life and present it as a gift to their communities.
